Terms of reference
The Education and Training Committee will provide EFLM members with improvement, science and education within the field of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine. To follow general goals of EFLM, E&T will work towards to improve patient outcomes, patient care quality and safety through the highest standards of laboratory medicine by covering topics such as educational principles and methods, quality management, utilization and cost-effectiveness of laboratory measurements and observations.
The work of the Committee will encompass involvement in and promotion of educational activities directed towards the customers of laboratory medicine services, both clinicians and patients by organizing educational programmes, workshops, courses and exchange programmes. Through these activities E&T will:
- assist in transfer of knowledge in all areas of the profession
- help implement new diagnostic strategies
- strengthen consultation and collaboration among different groups of healthcare providers
- strengthen consultation role and guide laboratory professionals to function optimally
- produce and ensure the quality of EFLM educational documents
- respond to the needs of EFLM members in education and management skills
- identify current problems in education and management practices and provide solutions and guidelines on how to overcome them
The Education and Training Committee is responsible for coordinating the activities of the E&T working groups and ensure the working groups communicates and interfaces with EB and committee chairs.
